Ford Scholars 2013
Student Application

The Ford Scholars online application process begins February 1, 2013. Applications must be submitted electronically by February 15, 2013, at 5PM. You will be notified of the status of your application by email no later than Wednesday, February 27.

Projects are held between Monday, May 27 – Friday August 2, 2013, may last a maximum of eight weeks, and may be conducted on campus or away depending on the project requirements. The student stipend for an eight-week project is $3,200 (subject to taxation). Stipends for projects of fewer than eight weeks will be pro-rated. Students are responsible for their own room and board. For on-campus projects, scholars are eligible to apply for residence housing.

Members of the classes of '14, '15, or '16 who have not previously been Ford Scholars are eligible to apply. Students who have been approved for academic leaves for 2013/14 may apply. The Ford Scholars Program is especially interested in exposing underrepresented minority students to life in the professoriate, and students of color are encouraged to apply.

Qualified students may apply for more than one project, but a separate application form must be submitted for each project. Specific academic skills or interests sought by the faculty mentor are indicated in their proposals; students should read these with care and address them in their applications.

Acceptance of the Fellowship obligates scholars to work full-time for the duration of the project. Additionally, Ford Scholars will be expected to compose a brief summary/abstract about the summer’s work and submit it to the Ford Program Director by the end of the summer. Scholars will present their work in poster format at the annual Ford Scholars Symposium to be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2013.

Applications are not being accepted at this time.
